About the museum
The Nagybörzsöny heritage house, an old four-room house, presents the last centuries of the settlement in several small exhibitions. The first room, the so-called best room (tiszta szoba), houses the material of the former Ore Mining Museum of Nagybörzsöny; it presents the history of local mining and a significant part of the ore mineralisations and minerals occurring in the mountains.
In the open-hearth kitchen, preserved in its unchanged form, visitors can become acquainted with the kitchen equipment and cooking methods of the German housewives of Nagybörzsöny in the early 20th century. In the back room, furnishings of the same period and the local German costume are displayed; in the smallest pantry, objects related to household work and crafts. The house is complemented by a cool cellar, where barrels of the famous Nagybörzsöny wine once stood.
