About the museum
In the long, saddle-roofed mill building, the miller and his family as well as the household animals had their places. The water needed for the drive was led to the building through a narrow channel from a weir built about two hundred metres upstream on the stream. The mill section has two levels: on the lower level are the water wheel and the power transmission mechanism; the deeply placed mill wheel is overshot, meaning the water pours down from above onto the blades, which gives greater driving force than an undershot solution. On the level above the wheel stand the grinder, the roller mill and the cleaning equipment; the present roller mills were installed in the mill in the 1930s.
The Antal mill was used mostly by the villagers. After the harvest and threshing, in summer and early autumn, it worked day and night, grinding twelve to sixteen mázsa (quintals) of wheat a day. In the living room of the mill a small exhibition presents the history of the milling industry.
