About the museum

The Börzsöny Múzeum, officially the Börzsöny Közérdekű Muzeális Gyűjtemény, is an institution of the municipality of Szob. Its collecting area is the Börzsöny and the Danube–Ipoly region: archaeological finds connected with the history of the settlement and the local area, the ethnographic objects of daily use in the region, and the natural material of the Börzsöny.

One room holds archaeological finds; two rooms and the corridor of the courtyard hold ethnographic objects. In the basement exhibition rooms the animal and plant life of the Börzsöny is presented in a modern, colourful exhibition, while in the passage under the gate there are stone monuments relating to local history. Alongside the permanent exhibitions, four to five temporary exhibitions a year are held, as well as lectures, concerts and school programmes.
