About the museum
The Nosztalgia Múzeum (Nostalgia Museum) opened in Szécsény in February 2014 within the framework of the Szécsényi Közművelődési Nonprofit Kft. (Szécsény Cultural Nonprofit Ltd.). The exhibition is based on the collection of the private collector Jászberényi Pál, a native of Szécsény, who began as a telephone engineer by collecting old telephones, and then collected radios, tape recorders, gramophones and the everyday objects of peasant and petty-bourgeois life. The initiator was Garamvölgyi Andrea.
In summer 2017 the museum reopened in a new place, in the renovated building of the former Pintér House. The 18th-century manor-type house was restored during the rehabilitation of the historic town centre.
The objects present everyday life and the development of technology from the early 20th century to the 1970s and 1980s. Two interiors, a kitchen from the 1930s and a clerk’s office from the 1950s, evoke the atmosphere of past eras. In the Hangos Terem (Sound Room) visitors can try out old tape recorders, record players and a telex machine.
