About the museum
The Palóc Doll Museum opened in 2001 in the old village of Hollókő, beside the Alsókút spring and near the path up to the castle. Its collection centres on nearly two hundred large porcelain dolls that show the varied folk costumes of the Palóc region.
The dolls illustrate the details of the costumes and the diversity of garments and decorations, giving insight into Palóc folk culture. Temporary exhibitions also show the folk dress of the Hungarian people as a whole.
The museum is one of the places to visit in the World Heritage old village of Hollókő, together with the village’s other museum and its craft house.
