About the museum
The Postakürt Galéria (Post Horn Gallery) opened in 1998 on the fourth floor of the Miskolc directorate of Magyar Posta Zrt. (Hungarian Post). Its permanent exhibition presents the postal history of Miskolc and its surroundings.
The exhibition uses documents, papers, maps and objects from more than two hundred years to help visitors get to know the postal service of northern Hungary. Visitors can also see the furnishing of an early 20th-century post office. Alongside local curiosities, the exhibition includes antiques, photographs, writings, equipment and work tools that have recently been received from the staff of the post offices operating in the directorate’s area.
The gallery belongs to the Postamúzeum network, whose other sites are in Miskolc (Teletár), Kiskunhalas, Hollókő and Budapest. The exhibition can be visited only by prior booking.
