About the museum
The museum in Diósd, maintained by the Postamúzeum (Postal Museum), presents the history of Hungarian radio and television through the development of studios, transmitters and receiving equipment.
Two rooms are devoted to the experimental equipment of Dr. Békésy György, Nobel Prize–winning physicist, academician and postal engineer; he returned home from the University of Hawaii. The exhibition also includes a studio and a technical room with the museum equipment of Magyar Rádió (Hungarian Radio). The gallery of the hall displays a catalogue of sound-recording equipment, cables, insulators and receivers, while the connecting corridor shows memorabilia of military communications and radio amateurs.
In the garden stand memorial columns to Hungarian broadcasting personalities, antennas, base insulators and floodlights. From the observation terrace, Csepel Island and the protected industrial monument, the cigar-shaped antenna tower of Lakihegy, can be seen.
