About the museum
The museum is located on the main square of Zirc, in the Baroque Dubniczay House built in 1766, which is regarded as the birthplace of Reguly Antal. The thematic museum's activities revolve around the work of Reguly Antal (1819–1858), researcher of the Finno-Ugric languages and the Ural region.
The Népi Kézműves Alkotóház (Folk Craft Workshop House) is also part of the complex. Its workshops house a permanent exhibition presenting Bakony crafts; by prior booking, visitors can also try pottery, weaving, gingerbread making, candle making, leatherwork, wheelwright work, blacksmithing and basket weaving. The ethnographic and local history collection can be seen in the open storage “Kincsek a padláson” (Treasures in the Attic), to which a local history photo gallery and the Bér Júlia graphic collection also belong.
