About the museum
The torkospajta (barn) of the Bakonybél village heritage house, previously used as a storehouse, was converted into an exhibition venue by the municipality and the private collector from Pápa, Takács János, working together. The collection began with the search for old toy cars: mainly popular cars from the tinplate-goods factories (lemezárugyárak) of Budapest and Győr laid the foundations of the material, which now numbers many thousands. It also contains board games, wooden toys (fajátékok), military toys, books, tricycles and pedal cars.
The exhibition recalls the lifestyle of the 1960s–80s: the world of televisions, radios, record players and film projectors, and scenes from the post office, the espresso bar (presszó), the cinema, the bus stop, the school, the market stall and the repair workshop.
