About the museum

Szeleta Park is the newest exhibition venue of the Bükki Nemzeti Park Igazgatóság in Miskolc, on Hegyalja út. The exhibition “A bükki barlangok évezredes titkai – Az ősember természete” (The Age-Old Secrets of the Bükk Caves – The Nature of Prehistoric Man) presents the natural treasures, geology, hydrology and cave system of the Bükk, the kaptárkövek (beehive stones), the characteristic flora and fauna of the mountains, and the world-famous Szeleta culture, through interactive displays and 2D and 3D films.

The building houses a workshop room for the environmental-education programmes of school groups, as well as the indoor play house “Kőkori Karszt Kaland” (Stone Age Karst Adventure) for children aged 4 to 14. In front of the facility there is a playground; in the park, which can be visited with the entrance ticket, there are further playgrounds, and in the surroundings the “Jövő ösvény” (Path of the Future) with a rock park and a bird- and insect-friendly garden.

The 13.5 km Szeleta educational trail starts beside the visitor centre, and in December 2025 a new children’s trail, the “Szeleta Manók Titkos Ösvénye” (Secret Path of the Szeleta Elves), was opened.
