About the museum
The collection bears the name of Gellért Károlyné Szikszay Edit. Szikszay Edit, a local schoolteacher, from 1961 first built up a school collection and then a village collection, and with great skill gathered objects of folk culture and the spiritual heritage of the Őrség.
The exhibition presents the history of the Őrség, and, with the help of archive photographs and characteristic Őrség objects, the everyday life of the people who lived here. The display is located in the attic of the local Művelődési Ház és Városi Könyvtár (Cultural Centre and Town Library), in the centre of Őriszentpéter.
