About the museum
The Tisza Castle in Geszt was the home of the Tisza family. In the visitor centre, the permanent exhibition “A Tiszák geszti otthona – Erő és akarat forrása” (“The Tiszas' Home in Geszt – Source of Strength and Will”) presents the family with original objects, old paintings, photographs and caricatures, as well as interactive tools. Costumed short films recall the horse hunts, the Tiszas' equestrian skills and their love of nature, as well as the First World War front, where Tisza István served as a colonel from the summer of 1917. In the reception room, visitors can learn the history of the castle from its construction to the present day. In the salon, holograms of Tisza Kálmán, Tisza István and Degenfeld Ilona greet the guests.
The exhibition route continues with the prime minister's study of Tisza Kálmán, restored to its original form. The castle includes the Arany János Memorial House and the crypt of the Tisza family, and the castle park covers almost 20 hectares. A single ticket is valid for the visitor centre, the Arany János Memorial House, the crypt and the castle park. The crypt can be visited by arrangement in advance.
