Városi Múzeum és Fotógaléria

The Ajka town museum presents the legacies of Fekete István, Molnár Gábor and Borsos Miklós, and the history of Ajka and the Bakony.

Opening hoursAdmission HUF 2,000

About the museum

Within the museum's walls the legacy of Fekete István can be seen; the writer arrived in Ajka in 1929, where his literary talent developed and where his first novel, “Koppányi aga testamentuma”, was born. The collection also presents the life of the hunter and writer Molnár Gábor, who went blind at a young age in Brazil; the objects of everyday use he brought from the Brazilian Indian tribes are the museum's special pieces. Small sculptures, ink drawings, etchings and plaques donated by the sculptor Borsos Miklós can also be seen.

The exhibition also presents the urban development of Ajka, the living world and traditional farming of the Bakony, Avar and Roman-period finds, and the formation of the industrial town, which was shaped by mining and glassmaking.
