About the museum
The Casa Museo is the former palace of the Pierro family in the historic centre of Tursi, in the San Filippo district, above Piazza Plebiscito. Here lived the poet Albino Pierro, born in Tursi in 1916; from the terraces of the building there is a view over the Pescogrosso stream.
The building extends over several levels: a basement with an entrance from Via Garibaldi and two raised floors on Corso Umberto I. The Centro Studi Albino Pierro (study centre) is housed in the same palace and preserves the poet’s books and archive in print, audio and video formats.
The route includes the Museo della Poesia Pierriana, with paintings, poems, objects and relics linked to the works; a picture gallery with a permanent exhibition of Lucanian artists, created for the tenth anniversary of the poet’s death; and the house itself, with the rooms “Rocco Brancati” and “Felice Di Nubila” and the Studio Albino Pierro. The rooms on the three levels can also be seen in video on the museum’s website.
