About the museum
Casa Ravera is a building in the centre of Bene Vagienna that houses a history museum devoted to the town and its territory. The exhibition route follows a chronological order, from the Roman age to the Baroque period.
The Roman section is linked to the excavations of the ancient Augusta Bagiennorum and includes the Ravera archive, with sketches, drawings and documents by Vacchetta relating to the archaeological research. Among the medieval materials, three rare keystones from the former parish church stand out.
In the following rooms are displayed a picture gallery, wooden sculptures and sacred silverware. Among the most important works are two inlaid tabernacles by Pietro Piffetti, of the 18th century, and the Ostensorio Magistrati (monstrance), made in Augsburg at the end of the 17th century and donated by Emperor Leopold I of Habsburg. The upper loggia is used for temporary exhibitions.
