About the museum
The “Centrum Sete Sois Sete Luas” are the houses of the festival of the same name, which began in the early 1990s to promote the arts and cultures of the Mediterranean and the Lusophone world through intercultural dialogue and the mobility of artists. In Italy the venue is in Pontedera, close to the station, on Viale Rinaldo Piaggio.
Each year the Centrum hosts seven to ten exhibitions of contemporary art (painting, sculpture, photography, video art, street art). Artists from one of the countries in the festival network are invited to a residency, during which they create a new work to donate to the Centrum, hold a workshop for students and adults, and guide the public through their works at the opening.
The donated works form the permanent collection, which preserves the memory of the festival’s activities in Italy and abroad. The facility also includes a performance hall, a library, a bookshop with art, culture and food and wine products from the network’s countries, and the tourist information office of Pontedera and Valdera.
