About the museum
The small museum is inside the Monte Cauriol hut-refuge, at about 1,600 m above sea level in Val Sadole, in the Lagorai range above Ziano di Fiemme. Fierce battles were fought in this area during the summer and autumn of 1916, and relics and defensive works from that period can still be seen today.
The collection gathers First World War relics found in Val Sadole and at Ziano, assembled by Aldo Zorzi. The refuge also has a small library with books on the mountains and their history.
The hut is a starting point for easy walks in the Lagorai, towards the peaks of Cauriol, Cardinal and Busa Alta, and it serves traditional dishes. Part of the collection was also presented in 2014 at the exhibition “Fiemme e la Grande Guerra” in Cavalese.
