About the museum
The museum occupies the birthplace of Antonio Longo, a priest and painter born in Varena in 1742, now a hamlet of the municipality of Ville di Fiemme. The building has recently been restored and preserves frescoes in the interior and several works by the artist.
Longo was a pupil of Valentino Rovisi and studied at the Accademia del Nudo (life drawing academy) in Rome. His painting was influenced by the Unterperger family of painters; in Rome he met artists such as Anton Raphael Mengs, Pompeo Batoni and Anton von Maron.
The house can be visited with a guide: guided tours present the story and artistic legacy of the painter.
