About the museum
The museum is housed in a unique monument on the southern outskirts of Sedini, on the edge of the Baldana ravine: a structure carved out of a large limestone boulder and laid out in several rooms on three floors, linked by floors and walls. Altered several times from the Middle Ages onwards, probably serving as a prison, it was inhabited until a few years ago.
On the lower floor a domus de janas of the late Neolithic (3200–2800 BC) is preserved almost intact. On the first floor a permanent photographic exhibition on the Anglona area is displayed, with monuments, churches and archaeological sites, while the second floor houses an exhibition of fossils from the Sedini area, with about two hundred specimens from the Middle Miocene.
Two rooms recreate an early 20th-century manor house, with a loom and a Sedini carpet from the mid-19th century, an inlaid wooden bed and an 18th- or 19th-century dagger that belonged to a local bandit; a small room houses jewellery and amulets donated by families from the village. In the left wing, on two floors, a 19th-century Anglona farmhouse is reconstructed with about three hundred artefacts; it preserves its medieval structure, with the hearth dug into the rocky floor, stairs cut into the rock and spaces for sheltering animals.
