About the museum
The museum occupies two floors of a historic building in the centre of Aggius and documents the daily life, trades and traditions of the village and of Gallura. The route comprises about fifteen rooms with original objects and machinery.
The workshops of the shoemaker, the blacksmith and the carpenter have been reconstructed, and the processing of cork and of granite, the typical stone of the area, is illustrated. A re-fitted cellar shows the stages of winemaking, while a storeroom collects farm tools, cheese-making equipment and food silos. The heart of the museum is the weaving room, where local women show how the carpets of Aggius are made. A display case is devoted to the famous choir of Aggius.
