About the museum
The Galleria civica d’arte moderna e contemporanea di Noicattaro is housed in the Palazzo della Cultura, a former convent converted and redeveloped in 2001 to become the town’s cultural centre.
The same building also houses the Sala Pende, the Sala degli artisti nojani (room of the artists of Noicattaro) and a room dedicated to Dyalma Stultus. According to the municipality’s presentation, a museum section with display cases was designed to hold archaeological finds from the Peucetian necropolises of the area (6th century BC); however, the original materials are kept and displayed in the archaeological museums of Bari and Taranto.
The gallery is part of promotion initiatives such as the European Heritage Days, on the occasion of which guided visits to the modern and contemporary artworks have been organised.
