About the museum
The Museo civico archeologico di Conversano is housed in the monastery of San Benedetto, a complex of early medieval origin (10th century), known for its medieval cloister, built between the 11th and 13th centuries, and for its two bell towers, one Norman and one Baroque.
The collections come from excavations carried out in the area, in particular at Norba and Castiglione. They include painted and unpainted pottery, metal objects, loom weights, a potter's roller, a strigil, a gold ring, fibulae, and silver and bronze coins.
