About the museum

The Galleria Marca Corona is the corporate museum of Marca Corona, a ceramics company in Sassuolo whose history dates back to 1741. It opened in 2010 at the company’s premises and since 2021 has been a member of Museimpresa, the Italian association of corporate museums and archives.

The route, designed by Studio Progettisti Associati, is spread over six rooms, each dedicated to a historical period, and presents in chronological order more than 250 pieces including artefacts, books, photographs and documents. Some of the material comes from the 19th-century Museo della Fabbrica Rubbiani. Photographs, explanatory videos and interactive stories accompany the visit.

On display are tableware, decorative objects, street signs and house numbers in ceramic, and decorated tiles for floors and wall coverings. An archive of documents, papers, drawings and photographs documents more than three hundred years of activity. The museum is also linked to “Marca Corona per l’Arte”, a project that each year involves a contemporary artist, and to the Premio Marca Corona for young artists and designers.
