About the museum
At the beginning of the 1990s the Swiss artist Daniel Spoerri bought an estate on the slopes of Monte Amiata, about 60 kilometres south of Siena. On old maps the place was called “Paradiso”, perhaps because of the mild climate, which supports very rich vegetation.
The Giardino opened in 1997 and was recognised as a non-profit cultural foundation (Fondazione “Hic Terminus Haeret”). Today it extends over about 16 hectares and houses 115 installations by 55 artists.
The garden can be visited from Easter to early November. In the warm season it offers courses, excursions and cultural events.
