About the museum
Giocars arises from the passion of Adriano Guidi, a collector who gathered objects from childhood on and who, over the course of his life, sought out toys designed for movement at fairs and antiques markets. The collection is housed in his country house in Sala Bolognese, in the heart of the Emilian Motorvalley.
The common thread of the collections is the theme of going and carrying: from sedan chairs to tricycles, from carousels with little horses to prams, and a series of large-format cars in perfect working order. The museum documents how adults and children have moved and played, over time, with every kind of mechanical vehicle.
The museum’s website illustrates some sections: children’s bicycles and tricycles, produced from around 1870 and spread in Italy especially by the Bolognese firm Giordani; prams and pushchairs, born in England at the end of the 18th century; rocking horses and toy carriages, the earliest evidence of which dates to the Baroque period. The visit takes place entirely on the ground floor.
