About the museum
The collection began in 1991, when Alexander Schwabl found some Second World War objects in the cellar of his house. Over the years he expanded the collection with material recovered from attics and storerooms in the area.
The Piccolo Museo di Lana, in Via Bottai in Lana di Sotto, holds postcards from the front, documents, newspapers, medals, military equipment, uniforms and finds from the trenches of both World Wars. Its aim is to preserve the personal stories of soldiers and local history.
The display is aimed mainly at school groups; visits are arranged by telephone.
