About the museum
The Touriseum opened in 2003 in the rooms of Castel Trauttmansdorff in Merano, and presents itself as the first museum in the Alpine area devoted exclusively to the history of tourism. The castle became a museum after the Autonomy Statute of South Tyrol, while the park surrounding it was transformed into a botanical garden.
The exhibition traces about two centuries of journeys and holidays in the mountains, with interactive displays, life-size figures and models, and includes the “Gioco dell'Alto Adige”, in which a ball is guided through a wooden landscape.
The entrance ticket to the Gardens of Castel Trauttmansdorff also gives access to the Touriseum.
