About the museum
The house museum is located at Les Combes, in the municipality of Introd, and is presented as a “sanctuary of memories” of the pontificate of John Paul II. The Polish pope spent ten periods of summer rest at Les Combes, in the Aosta Valley, between 1989 and 2004.
The collection brings together objects, documents and photographs of the Holy Father and tells both of his apostolic activity in the world and of his stays in the Aosta Valley, with some personal items he used during his holidays.
A few metres from the museum, the chapel of San Lorenzo is a sanctuary dedicated to Saint John Paul II. It holds a relic, a lock of hair, and on the altar an image of the pope carved in African mahogany by the artist Franco Chevrere. The relics remain in the sanctuary from June to September; in the other months they are kept in the parish of Introd.
