About the museum
Fondazione MAST was founded in Bologna in 2013 as a cultural and philanthropic institution set up by the industrial group Coesia and the Fondazione Isabella Seràgnoli. It stands beside the headquarters of Coesia, in a multifunctional complex of 25,000 square metres designed for the company's employees but also open to the city, with welfare services and a programme of free cultural activities for all ages.
The MAST.Galleries comprise two spaces. The Innovation Gallery is an experiential learning area on technology and innovation: starting from some technical solutions developed by the Coesia group, the interactive and multimedia route invites visitors to experiment with technological exhibits and video art installations. The Photo Gallery hosts temporary exhibitions of photography of industry and work, drawing on the MAST collection of more than 5,000 works, on other archives and on international institutions.
The programme also includes an auditorium for talks, screenings and concerts, educational activities for schools and families, and the international MAST Photo Grant prize.
