About the museum

The museum arises from the passion of its founder and director, Giovanni Pelagalli, for radio technology and from his collection of equipment, and is run by a non-profit association. In 2007 it received a recognition from the UNESCO Prize.

The site is in Via Col di Lana, in the Porto district, about 300 metres from Porta San Felice and about 2 km from the historic centre. The collections document the main technical and scientific inventions of the last two centuries through original, working equipment.

The route includes the Museo storico della radio, dei grammofoni, del cinema e degli strumenti musicali meccanici (1760–1960), with the hall dedicated to Guglielmo Marconi and his relics, phonography, mechanical music machines, television, a RAI corner, the section on the Ducati brothers and the one on Italian and Neapolitan song. The visit is led by the founder and takes interactive forms.
