About the museum
The museum is housed in a 15th-century fortified house (casaforte) in the hamlet of Ayez, in Allein, an example of late Gothic rural architecture. It is dedicated to the historic carnival of the Coumba Frèida, one of the oldest carnival traditions of the Aosta Valley, found in the municipalities of the Gran San Bernardo valley.
The exhibition compares the carnival of the past with that of today through photographs, archive material from the AVAS, works made by schools as part of the “Project Carnaval” and objects lent or donated by private individuals.
