About the museum
During the Second World War the Valpelline valley was a place of refuge and welcome and an escape route to neutral Switzerland. Jews and political opponents of the Nazi-Fascist regime passed through it, among them Luigi Einaudi, future President of the Italian Republic, and the Aosta Valley activists Bréan, Bougeat and Berthod, who fled after the arrest and death of their leader Émile Chanoux.
The documentation centre, housed in the municipal library, collects and presents this history of relations between the Aosta Valley and Switzerland in the years 1943–1945. It includes a photographic and documentary exhibition on the escape routes and a multimedia documentary with photographs, interviews and texts that retraces the path taken by the activists.
