MudeP – Museo del Presepe

About the museum

The MudeP was inaugurated on 8 December 2016 by the Associazione Amici del Presepio di Fara Novarese, which has been creating monumental nativity scenes since the early 1990s. It is housed in some rooms of the former elementary school of the village, made available by the municipal administration.

The project aims to go beyond simply displaying the group’s own nativity scenes: the idea is to offer a route that also includes works by other artists, nativities and figures for the nativity scene, ethnic nativity scenes and everything connected with the art of the nativity. Among other things, the rooms contain a historical introduction to the nativity scene and to Christmas, a section on ethnic nativity scenes, large nativity scenes made over the years by the Amici del Presepio, and sketches for scenes and figures in the Neapolitan style. The building also has a meeting room for events, lectures and courses on how to prepare nativity scenes.
