About the museum
The Mulino di Bellori stands in the Bellori hamlet (contrada) in the Valpantena, where the Vajo della Marciora and the Vajo dell'Anguilla meet. It has existed since at least the 15th century and ground the cereals grown in the Lessinia and the Valpantena; it remained in operation until 1956. Also known as “del Baràca”, it retains features of the earliest mills, with gears made almost entirely of wood.
At the beginning of the 20th century it was owned by Marcellino Tacchella and Marco Zanini; in 1923 Zanini sold his half to Marcellino Veronesi.
Inside there is also a baito, the traditional building where milk was collected to make butter and cheese, jointly owned by several families of the hamlet. The oldest architecture of the village is largely intact; points of interest include a courtyard with an entrance arch dated 1610, the former Osteria dell'Anguilla inn and a wayside shrine (capitello) to the Madonna dello Scanno dated 1674.
