About the museum
MUSA is a museum complex of the Province of Benevento devoted to the history of agriculture and farm technology. It is located in contrada Piano Cappelle, a few kilometres from the city centre, in a restored farmhouse on land belonging to the agricultural institute “Mario Vetrone”.
The route tells the story of the shift from working with animals to tractors and the consequences of this change for the cultural identity of the Sannio area. The collection includes tractors and agricultural machinery from various parts of the world, many of them rare and well preserved.
The ten pavilions contain installations that recreate rural life of the past, screens showing educational films, and a multimedia “quadrisfera” which, using video and mirrors, shows how the agricultural landscape has changed. The complex also includes an educational and multimedia workshop and a large open-air theatre for performances and events.
