About the museum

The Museo civico Pucinaro in Pietrelcina, in the province of Benevento, is housed in Palazzo De Tommasi Bozzi. The display traces the history of the area from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages through archaeological material and testimonies shown in display cases.

On the ground floor, one room serves as a local history library, intended to hold specialist literature on the life of Padre Pio, the friar with the stigmata who was born in Pietrelcina. On the piano nobile (main floor), in the exhibition rooms, the display cases are arranged in a pyramid so as not to obstruct the view of the rooms, alongside photographs of monuments and sacred dedications. In the attic, ceramic remains illustrate everyday life in past periods.
