About the museum
The Museo Civico Archeologico Aquaria was founded in 1979 by the Gruppo Archeologico Aquaria of Soncino to protect, enhance and make known the rich archaeological heritage of the north-eastern part of the province of Cremona. Its first venue was Palazzo Covi, in Gallignano.
The collection comprises material recovered in more than thirty years of surface research by the group, to which have been added finds from the most recent discoveries of the Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici della Lombardia. The current display is set up in the halls of the Rocca Sforzesca of Soncino, built from 1473 at the wish of Galeazzo Maria Sforza.
The route, chronological and thematic, is arranged in several sections and retraces the phases of settlement in the territory, from prehistory to the full 17th century.
