About the museum
The Museo archeologico dell’antica Allifae is located in Alife, in the province of Caserta, in Piazza XIX Ottobre. It presents evidence of human occupation of the area from prehistory through the pre-Roman, Roman and medieval periods, much of it emerging from recent investigations carried out by the Soprintendenza.
The display occupies two large halls organised by chronological and territorial contexts, with explanatory panels, graphic material and photographs. The exhibits include weapons and stone tools, inscriptions and sculptures, ceramic and glass vessels, metal objects and fragments of frescoes and mosaics.
The finds come from sites such as Roccavecchia di Pratella and Monte Cila, from necropolises and rustic villas, and from the urban excavations of the ancient city, which have covered the forum, the baths and the houses. The museum also offers educational activities.
