About the museum
The museum is housed in Campelli, a hamlet of Fobello, in a 16th-century house that belonged to the family of the sculptor Pierugo Tirozzo, who donated it to the CAI, the Italian Alpine Club. The building overlooks the valley.
The collection preserves part of the herbarium of Abbot Antonio Carestia, an important Italian botanist from Riva Valdobbia, which had been given to the sculptor’s father: around 1,000 sheets dated from 1854 to the early 20th century, in excellent condition, with photographs and notes added to the originals.
On the first floor, one room displays three complete traditional costumes from Fobello and various significant garments and accessories.
