About the museum
The Museo Civico di Manduria opened in 2018 to preserve the memory of the American presence at the city's military airfield. It is located in Vico Ludovico Omodei, in the historic centre.
The collection includes Second World War relics, traces of local men who fought in the First World War, and materials dedicated to Cosimo Moccia, who was awarded a medal for military valour. A photo exhibition, donated by the Manduria section of the ANSI, tells the story of the welcome given to Trentino refugees during the Great War.
Visits are guided and by reservation only; the guide is included in the ticket price. The museum is part of the city's cultural offer, which also includes the Parco archeologico delle mura messapiche, the Museo archeologico and the Casa museo Elisa Springer.
