About the museum
The museum is housed in Palazzo Gotti di Salerano, a 17th-century building whose halls were frescoed by Taricco between 1672 and 1681. In the main hall the Piedmontese Senate met during the siege of Turin in 1706.
The collections, which have occupied the palace for about a century, come from the donation of the historian Giovan Battista Adriani of Cherasco. They include archaeological materials such as statuettes, amphorae and cinerary urns, documents of local and Piedmontese history, a numismatic collection with medals and Greek, Roman, Italian and foreign coins, and a lapidary section of inscribed stones.
