About the museum
The museum is housed in the Castello Colonna Enriquez, in the historic centre of Vittoria, near the public gardens. The building was constructed in 1607 and first served as the seat of the County of Modica, then as a prison. Today it houses the multipurpose civic museum named after Virgilio Lavore.
The collections include a picture gallery of around sixty works, forty-nine historical panels on the territory, an ornithological collection and some examples of stage machines used to simulate special effects. An audio guide service is listed.
