About the museum
The Collezione Branca is the corporate museum of the company Fratelli Branca Distillerie, founded in Milan in 1845. It opened to the public in 2009 at the wish of the Branca family, who wanted to collect and preserve historical objects and documents and give the company a place for cultural activities. In 2025 it was included in the list of Corporate Museums (Musei d’Impresa) recognised by the Lombardy Region.
The route occupies more than 1,000 square metres of the historic industrial complex on Via Resegone and is the result of more than ten years of work, with materials selected and objects restored by the company’s own workers. The visit begins with paintings and sculptures of the founders and continues along a corridor that tells the production cycle, with an area devoted to herbalism, the chemical laboratory for analysing herbs, the carpentry workshop and an office.
Along the walls are calendars from 1886 to 1913 and advertising posters signed by artists such as Metlicovitz, Cappiello, Jean d’Ylen, Mauzan and Codognato. There are also historic bottles, sketches of advertising campaigns from the 1960s and 1970s, and the television commercials known as Caroselli. The eagle clutching the Fernet bottle, designed by Leopoldo Metlicovitz in 1893, is one of the brand’s emblems.
