Have only individual sections read aloud
About the museum
The museum opened in 2006 in Milan, in the Isola district, on the initiative of the collector Umberto Di Donato, who is its founder and president. The collection began with about two hundred machines and has grown over time to hundreds of examples, alongside a few mechanical calculators.
The premises are run by a non-profit association that promotes cultural initiatives and literary prizes. The route allows visitors to follow the evolution of the writing instrument, from its origins to the machines that accompanied office work and writing in the 20th century; among the models the museum recalls are an Imperial and an Olivetti Cederna.
Admission is free. The museum is open on some afternoons of the week and, on request, welcomes groups every day.
