About the museum
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Buddusò stands on the outskirts of the town, in north-eastern Sardinia, in a building of about 400 square metres completed in 2001. It is run by the Gigantes Cooperative of Buddusò.
Its collections derive from the international symposia of sculpture in wood and in granite, the two materials that have always been economically important for the town. Between 1980 and 2000, artists from various countries worked live in the streets and squares of Buddusò, leaving works that now dot the historic centre.
The interior rooms hold around sixty works in wood, including bas-reliefs and free-standing sculptures. Some granite works are placed in the outdoor park, while the rest are scattered throughout the historic centre.
