About the museum
The MALP – Museo degli Alpini della Città di Darfo Boario Terme was founded in 2003 on the initiative of General Roberto Scaranari. The project was carried out with the help of the Alpini groups of Fucine, Darfo and Angone, the Darfo municipal administration, the ANA Valle Camonica section and the Comando Truppe Alpine di Bolzano.
The museum occupies large, bright rooms and is divided into two parts: an educational section on the ground floor and a historical section on the upper floor, with interactive screens, an audiovisual room and a space for reading and research. The collections include memorabilia, documents, photographs, uniforms, weapons and military equipment, acquired through donations and loans, with material on the First and Second World Wars, the Spanish Civil War, the Greek-Albanian front and the Russian campaign.
A new large exhibition space is dedicated to those who died for the homeland and for freedom, with relics, letters, photographs and testimonies from soldiers and partisans, including the Tredici Martiri di Lovere. The MALP association collects and promotes documents on the history of the Alpini, especially in Valle Camonica, and volunteers organise workshops for schools.
