About the museum
The museum was founded in 2000, during the Great Jubilee, when the Dominican friars of the Sanctuary set up a permanent exhibition on popular religiosity on the first floor of the Casa del Pellegrino (Pilgrims' House), gathering votive panels and ex voto offerings of all kinds.
In 2011 a new section on the history and presence of the Dominican friars at the Sanctuary was opened. On 7 September 2018 the museum moved to the old rooms of the convent: the new site removes architectural barriers and also gives visitors access to the convent's 17th-century pharmacy.
In 2022 the route was reorganised: the entrance now passes through the old pharmacy, where reception, the ticket office and a small bookshop are located. Twelve themed rooms, with explanatory panels, tell the story of the cult of the Madonna dell'Arco through votive offerings from the 16th century to the present day.
