About the museum
The museum is located in a rural area of the Valnerina, a short distance from Norcia, and was founded in 2005 in the Cecconi mill. It tells the story of the mills and marcite of Norcia: the marcite are meadows irrigated with channels and sluices that allow mowing even in the cold months. The system is attributed to Benedictine monks and is considered unique in the central-southern Apennines.
Information panels and typical objects accompany the visit, which includes a grain-grinding machine that still works, set up in a reconstruction of a traditional mill. The marcite meadows can be reached on foot or by bicycle from the museum.
