About the museum
Mobimed tells the story of the birth and development of the Mirandola biomedical district, starting from 1962. The permanent exhibition was originally set up in the Pico castle. After the 2012 earthquake made the castle unsafe, it was relocated to a new venue in Via Focherini. The museum is dedicated to the engineer Paolo Poggioli, and its creation also owes much to the impetus of Dr Mario Veronesi. It is run by RPM MEDIA Società Benefit.
The historical section displays medical devices, photographs and original drawings from the 1960s, including the first artificial kidney produced in Italy. A contemporary section presents, with stands and panels, the companies of the area and businesses linked to the sector.
The museum offers multimedia installations, an audio guide and a virtual visit, and runs educational visits for technical and vocational institutes and for lower secondary schools, devoted to innovation, technology and the biomedical industry.
