About the museum
The visitor centre in Noasca houses a permanent exhibition describing the geomorphology of the Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso. The route invites visitors to reflect on the agents that shape the landscape, on the composition of rocks and their weathering, on Alpine evolution and also on the role of people, with quarrying, the use of stone in mountain architecture, changes to slopes and the management of water.
The form of the landscape is linked to the habits of the park’s best-known animals, such as the ibex, the chamois, the marmot and the golden eagle. The exhibition is organised in panels with different levels of detail and offers younger visitors a comic-strip trail accompanied by Stamby, an ibex. A relief model helps to understand the composition of the rocks and their decay, while in the adjoining screening room documentaries filmed in the park can be watched.
